We were on ABC 33/40’s Talk of Alabama! Arlene Hicks, our Executive Director, and Wayne Turner, Skyline’s dedicated Executive Chef, spent a Friday morning with Nicole, host of ABC 33/40’s Talk of Alabama segment, to discuss Skyline Village while Chef Wayne created a tasty meal.
We talked about the wide range of amazing amenities that Skyline offers, including an all-inclusive resort-style living experience for our residents. We’ve highlighted some of the video below.
Of course, while Chef Wayne cooked, we had to discuss Skyline’s food! Chef Wayne and his team sit down each week to discuss the week’s menu, and order and prepare the food. At Skyline, we offer three meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. What sets us apart is that we’re dedicated to providing our residents healthy options they can feel good about.
By providing meals for our residents, we’re enabling them to not only live better, but also live stress-free as they can be independent and active — while knowing they have a hot meal waiting for them when they return.
We met with Nicole right off the heels of our Great Gatsby party, which was a roaring success! Nicole asked about Skyline’s activities, and Arlene talked about all the exciting events we’ve had in the past, as well as other activities our residents enjoy, like shopping trips, themed parties and even stops at their favorite restaurants.
“We also do all types of brain games; we go places, we go out to eat sometimes… sometimes [our residents] like to go to their favorite restaurants, so it’s just a very wide range of activities and stuff that we do,” says Arlene.
We at Skyline focus on creating community within our walls. Arlene discussed with Nicole the opportunities for our residents to connect and build friendships with one another. Nicole mentioned that friendship is absolutely crucial for seniors, and we couldn’t agree more — we even host speed dating events for our residents to get out and meet others!
and of course, as part of our close-knit community, our residents enjoy a simple monthly payment that covers all of their cleaning, living space, utilities, phone, cable, wifi and more. This allows our residents to have more time to do the activities they enjoy — with the community they enjoy.
Plus, with Chef Wayne in the kitchen, our residents know that their meals are healthy, delicious and always available.
We are so privileged and thankful to be invited to spend time with Nicole for Talk of Alabama. It was great to be able to enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Chef Wayne as well as discuss all the exciting activities and amenities Skyline offers.
